“Trades Tuesday” — and How You Can Replicate Its Success

Last week’s Trades Tuesday event proved something powerful: when students are given the right tools, guidance, and access to opportunities, they’re ready to take charge of their futures.

At the event, CareerPathway.com partnered with educators to host an in-class presentation and student sign-up session for nearly 60 high school juniors and seniors exploring careers in the trades. Over the course of the day, we met with three different student groups — walking them step by step through creating their CareerPathway.com profiles, exploring career pathways, and discovering real opportunities available in their communities.

By the end of the session, students had successfully created a CareerPathway.com account and began exploring their next steps. Students weren’t just listening — they were actively engaging. Many applied for job shadows, internships, dual credit programs, scholarships, and even full-time positions right on the platform, a total of 83 applications!

Why This Event Worked

The success of Trades Tuesday wasn’t just about showing up — it was about meeting students where they are and giving them hands-on access to tools that connect education to real careers.
Here’s what made the event impactful:

  • Interactive engagement: Students explored industries through fun, guided activities instead of static presentations.
  • Real-world relevance: Each student could immediately see live opportunities from local businesses and organizations.
  • Instant connection: Through CareerPathway.com, students could apply, message, and follow businesses directly — all in one platform.
  • Tangible outcomes: Dozens of real applications and connections were made within hours of the event.

How Schools and Organizations Can Replicate This Success

The beauty of Trades Tuesday is that it’s easily repeatable — and scalable. Any school, business, or community organization can replicate this model to engage students in career exploration.

Here’s how:

  1. Host a CareerPathway.com onboarding session.
Dedicate class time or event space for students to create their profiles and explore opportunities.
  2. Invite local businesses to post their content and openings.
The more organizations share, the more options students can explore — from entry-level to advanced positions.
  3. Incorporate CareerPathway.com into classroom activities.
Have students explore industries, find their favorite opportunities, or research companies in their community.
  4. Use events like Trades Tuesday as springboards.
Highlight specific industries (trades, healthcare, tech, etc.) and connect students directly to professionals and pathways in those fields.

The Bigger Picture

Events like Trades Tuesday show that career exploration can be both interactive and impactful. By combining education and technology, we can bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world opportunities — keeping students engaged, informed, and motivated to build their future right here at home.
