Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 19, 2026

1. Who We Are and What This Covers

CareerPathway.com is operated by In It For The Trades, LLC, a Nebraska limited liability company ("CareerPathway.com," "we," "us," or "our"). We care about privacy, and because many of the people who use our platform are teenagers, we hold ourselves to a careful standard.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to:

  • the website at www.careerpathway.com and careerpathway.com (the "Website");
  • the CareerPathway.com application at app.careerpathway.com and the sign-in service at login.careerpathway.com (the "Platform"); and
  • other domains and subdomains we operate for CareerPathway.com, including domains we use to send email such as go.careerpathway.com; and
  • emails, text messages, and other communications between you and us.

It does not apply to third-party websites we link to. Those have their own policies, and we encourage you to read them.

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.

2. A Plain-Language Summary

  • We do not sell your personal information. We do not display ads on CareerPathway.com. We do use Meta and LinkedIn tags to retarget our own ads to adults who visited five of our pages, which some state laws call "sharing" — it happens only if you accept cookies, and never with anything from a Student account.
  • We do not run advertising trackers on pages built for students. Our advertising tags are limited to five pages aimed at adults, and they load only if you accept cookies.
  • Student profiles are private by default. A student has to choose to make a profile viewable, and even then it is a limited profile. Student accounts cannot upload images, create posts, or comment.
  • You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your information at support@careerpathway.com, whatever state or country you live in.
  • Children under 13 may not use CareerPathway.com, and we delete information we learn we have collected from them.

The rest of this Policy gives you the detail behind those statements.

3. Age Groups and How We Treat Them

Under 13 — not permitted. The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have information from a child under 13, we delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact support@careerpathway.com and we will remove it.

13 to 17 — Student profiles. Individuals aged 13 to 17 may use the Services with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. When a Student account is created, the account holder confirms that this permission has been given. For these users:

  • The profile is private by default. It is not visible to other users unless the student changes that setting. Even then, it is a limited profile, and a student cannot add a profile picture.
  • We do not use their information for behavioral advertising, and we do not sell or share it.
  • Our advertising tags do not run on the pages built for students (see Section 7).
  • A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of a minor's information by contacting support@careerpathway.com. We will verify the request before acting on it.

18 and over — Professional and organization profiles. Adults may hold Professional, Educator, Business, or institutional profiles, with the features described in the Platform.

4. Information We Collect

Information you give us:

  • Account and profile information — name, email address, password credentials, phone number (if you provide one), age or date of birth (used to assign the correct profile type), location, school or employer, job title, and profile content such as interests, skills, experience, and education.
  • Organization information — organization name, address, contact details, logo, opportunity listings, and content posted by an organization's users.
  • Assessment and activity responses — answers you give in career assessments or evaluations offered through the Services, and the results generated for you.
  • Communications — messages you send through the Platform, correspondence with our support team, survey responses, and interactions with us on social media.
  • Billing information for paid plans — billing contact details and transaction records. Payment card details are entered directly with Stripe; we do not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Marketing preferences — your choices about receiving email or other communications.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Services we may collect your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location derived from IP address, and dates and times of access. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies described in Section 7.

Information from other sources. We may receive information from service providers who help us operate the Services, from an organization that invites you to its profile, and from social media platforms when you interact with us there, according to your settings on those platforms.

5. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • create, verify, secure, and maintain your account, including sending the email verification code required to activate it;
  • provide the Services — displaying profiles, opportunities, content, and assessment results, and enabling contact between users;
  • assign the correct profile type based on age and the information you provide;
  • respond to support requests, investigate problems, and resolve disputes;
  • process transactions and manage paid plans;
  • send service messages about your account, security, and material changes to our terms or this Policy;
  • send marketing communications to adults who have given us their email address, subject to the choices in Section 10;
  • understand how the Services are used so we can improve them, using aggregated and de-identified data wherever possible;
  • keep the Services safe — detecting fraud, abuse, security incidents, and conduct that puts a user at risk, particularly a minor; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

Where our Services are offered. CareerPathway.com is intended for users in the United States. We do not market or offer the Services to people in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and all information we collect is stored and processed in the United States.

6. How We Share Information

With other users, according to your settings. Profile information is visible to others as described in Section 3 and in your profile settings. Content that you choose to make public is public. Please think carefully before including sensitive details in a profile or message.

With service providers who work for us. We use trusted third parties to run the Services, and they may process personal information on our instructions and under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. These include:

Account sign-in, email verification, hosting — Amazon Web Services (Amazon Cognito)

Website hosting — Webflow

Customer relationship management and marketing email — HubSpot

Email delivery — HubSpot, Mailchimp

Website analytics — Google Analytics

Website session analytics — Lucky Orange

Advertising and retargeting (see Section 7) — Meta, LinkedIn

Payment processing — Stripe

For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information to comply with a law, court order, subpoena, or government request; to enforce our Terms of Use; to protect the rights, property, or safety of CareerPathway.com, our users, or the public; and where we believe a user may be at risk of harm.

In a business transaction. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honor this Policy or give you notice and a choice.

Aggregated and de-identified information. We may publish or share information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, such as counts and trends.

We do not sell personal information. We have never accepted money for personal information and we do not intend to.

Retargeting, and what that means legally. The Meta pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag described in Section 7 let us show our own ads to adults who have already visited certain pages of our Website. To do that, a limited online identifier (such as a cookie identifier or IP address) reaches Meta or LinkedIn. Some state privacy laws call this "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, so we tell you plainly: we do share that limited information for retargeting, but only after you accept cookies, only from five adult-facing pages, and never from our home page or /students. You can stop it at any time by declining cookies or changing your choice in Cookie Settings, and we honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control. We never share information from Student accounts for advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

7. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising Tags

Your choice comes first. When you first visit the Website, a cookie banner asks you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Until you accept, analytics and advertising storage are switched off. Your choice is remembered in a cookie named cp_consent and you can change it at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the Website footer.

Essential cookies are always active. They keep you signed in, remember your cookie choice, and keep the Services secure. They are necessary for the Services to work.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how pages are used. Analytics storage is disabled until you accept cookies. We also use Lucky Orange to analyze site usage and diagnose problems; it loads only after you accept cookies.

Advertising tags — limited on purpose. We use the Meta pixel and the LinkedIn Insight Tag for two things: to measure whether our own advertising works, and to retarget — that is, to show our own ads on Meta and LinkedIn to adults who have already visited certain pages. These tags are deliberately restricted:

  • They load only after you accept cookies.
  • They run on only five pages, all aimed at adults: /pricing, /business, /educators, /colleges-universities, and /resource-library.
  • They do not run on our home page, and they do not run on /students.

We do not permit third parties to run advertising trackers on pages built for minors, and we do not build advertising audiences from Student accounts.

No ads on our Services. These tags let us advertise elsewhere. They do not put advertising on CareerPathway.com: we do not display third-party advertisements on the Website or in the Platform.

Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and many offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Blocking cookies may stop parts of the Services from working. There is no common industry standard for responding to Do Not Track signals; we honor recognized opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, where required by law.

8. Educators, Schools, and Student Records

Educators and mentors use CareerPathway.com to guide students. CareerPathway.com is not a school official and does not act as a custodian of education records. Do not upload student records to CareerPathway.com. We ask educators, mentors, and students not to upload school identification numbers or images of school IDs, grades, transcripts, disciplinary records, special-education or health records, or any other information from a student's education record. We do not need that information to run the Platform, and Student accounts cannot upload images at all. If a school or district needs a written agreement covering student data, contact support@careerpathway.com and we will work with you on one.

9. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Policy.

  • Active accounts — retained while the account is open.
  • Closed accounts — we delete or de-identify personal information within ninety (90) days of account closure, except where we must keep it longer. In most cases we act much faster than that: when you ask us to delete your account, we can remove both your sign-in credentials and your Platform profile promptly, and the ninety days is an outer limit that covers routine processing and backups.
  • Exceptions — we may retain limited information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, prevent abuse and fraud, and maintain backups. Backup copies are overwritten on our normal backup cycle.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information, which cannot identify you, may be kept indefinitely.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Everyone who uses CareerPathway.com, regardless of where you live, can ask us to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • delete your information and close your account;
  • receive a copy of the information you gave us in a portable format; and
  • withdraw consent you previously gave, including your cookie choice.

Email support@careerpathway.com. We will verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. For a minor's account, a parent or guardian may make the request.

Marketing choices. You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any marketing message or by contacting us. We will still send you service messages about your account.

Users outside the United States. CareerPathway.com is offered only in the United States, and all information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, you do so on your own initiative and you are responsible for compliance with local law.

California residents. We collect the categories of personal information described in Section 4, for the purposes in Section 5, from the sources in Section 4, and disclose them to the categories of recipients in Section 6. We do not sell personal information. We do share limited online identifiers with Meta and LinkedIn for cross-context behavioral advertising (retargeting), as described in Sections 6 and 7, and only after you accept cookies; you may opt out at any time through Cookie Settings or by sending an opt-out preference signal. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16. You have the rights to know, delete, correct, and to be free from discrimination for exercising them, and you may use an authorized agent. California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83) also permits California residents to request information about disclosures for third-party direct marketing; we do not make such disclosures.

Other states. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal information, and to appeal a refusal. To appeal, reply to our response or write to support@careerpathway.com with "Appeal" in the subject line.

11. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, managed authentication through Amazon Cognito, and email verification before an account can be used.

The safety of your information also depends on you: keep your password confidential, do not share your account, and sign out on shared devices. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and any regulator as required by law.

12. Text Messages

If you give us a mobile number, we may send you text messages related to your account, such as verification or service notices. We will not send marketing text messages to a minor. Message and data rates may apply, and you can opt out of texts by replying STOP.

13. Third-Party Links and Platforms

The Services link to third-party sites, resources, and assessments, and we maintain pages on social media platforms. We do not control those services, and their privacy practices are their own. Review their policies before providing information.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. The "Last Updated" date at the top shows when. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to notify account holders, such as by email or an in-Platform notice, before it takes effect. Please keep your email address current so you receive these notices.
